Mourning Star began in a college bedroom in 2014, consisting of founding members Lucas Gaughan and Andrew Marcoullier. They used the challenges of their lives to fuel their musical efforts to produce a hard rock record. The result of a year’s effort was their debut album Dead Yet Alive. Michael Windingstad and Nate Mann joined the project and the team endeavored to dominate the Minnesota music scene. After having headlined some of the state’s most notable venues and having played been named one of Minnesota’s Hometown Heroes, the band set out to record their second studio record, called Purity. Purity included the works and influences of all four band members and was based off of their most memorable life experiences. Mourning Star recorded and produced Purity at a studio in Detroit, Michigan, at which other prominent bands, such as Fallout Boy, Shinedown, Greta Van Fleet, Attack Attack!, I See Stars, and many more were also produced. Following the release of Purity the band will continue to play live around the country and grow on a national scale.
